CREVENTIC still welcoming entries for 2019 Hankook 24H COTA USA

The 24H SERIES season finale will take place at the Circuit of the Americas for the third year in succession, and could be the biggest yet for Dutch organising body, CREVENTIC.

With just under three months to go, entries are still open for the 2019 Hankook 24H COTA USA at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas. Now in its third iteration, the 24-hour endurance extravaganza has fast established itself as a pillar of the 24H SERIES powered by Hankook, and will once again close the curtain on an exciting season of endurance racing.

Open to competitors worldwide, including PRO, ‘gentlemen’ and pretty much everything in-between, the event at the 5.513 km home of the Formula 1 United States Grand Prix is sure to be another successful collaboration between Dutch organising body CREVENTIC and the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA), and an event befitting the FIA and Automobile Competition Committee for the United States (ACCUS) seal of approval.

Scheduled to take place on 15-16-17 November, the third annual Hankook 24H COTA USA is set to field its biggest grid yet as well as the highest number of American competitors in its short history.

Might this be CREVENTIC’s biggest COTA event yet?
Such is the hype for the 2019 Hankook 24H COTA USA that with a total of 53 entries, numbers have already surpassed those of the inaugural race in 2017 (41) and those of 2018 (34) with a little under three months still to go. Indeed, teams and drivers representing more than 15 different nationalities across Europe, Asia, North America and Australasia have already registered.

Among the most significant from Europe so far are former Nürburgring 24 Hours winner Black Falcon, reigning Hankook 24H DUBAI winner Car Collection Motorsport, and endurance racing artisans like Cor Euser, Bas Koeten and Colin White.

Like previous years, the Stars and Stripes also look set to be well represented, with nearly 20 cars from North American teams already confirmed. Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus, the race team of American entrepreneur James Glickenhaus, is set to return with the vaunted SCG 003C sports car, as is ‘sister’ team, Lightspeed Racing. Reigning 24H SERIES Drivers’ champions Charles Putman, Joe Foster and Charles Espenlaub head into a title showdown once again with the former’s eponymously-entered CP Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3, while Kelly-Moss Motorsports and Wright Motorsports will vie for 991 class honours.

Like last year, ‘GT4’ welcomes a strong American line-up, including (deep breath) Dexter Racing, Rearden Racing, Winward Racing, former Hankook 24H COTA USA class winner Classic BMW, former event podium finishers RENNtech Motorsports and RHC Jorgensen/Strom, and a three-car entry from NOLASPORT. Across in the TCE division meanwhile, Atlanta Speedwerks, RS Werkes and LA Honda World Racing rounds out a field steeped with variety and a proven depth of competition.

On top of this, American Jim Briody is set to make history with his 100th start in a 24-hour race, and on home turf no less.

A relaxed race format, that offers plenty of track time
Back by popular demand, this year’s Hankook 24H COTA USA will once again be run in two separate halves, with an overnight
‘intervention’ allowing all teams and drivers to rest and recuperate ahead of a sure-to-be thrilling climax. And that’s just one notable element of the schedule during the 15-16-17 November weekend.

Alongside the 24-hour headliner, there’ll be action aplenty on-track courtesy of support races from both the Radical Cup North America and the SCCA Pro Spec Racer across Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Competitors registered for the Hankook 24H COTA USA meanwhile are guaranteed plenty of track time, with two 120-minute Private Test sessions available upon request on Thursday ahead of a 90-minute Practice session and two separate qualifying sessions the following day.

When drivers aren’t in the hot seat, they can spend their time in the 24H SERIES paddock at the Circuit of the Americas, one well-known and respected for its family friendly and relaxed atmosphere. Expect Texan barbeque to play a major part during proceedings!

Hankook Tires to provide in-depth service
Now into its 6th year in partnership with CREVENTIC, Hankook Tires will be on-hand at the Hankook 24H COTA USA to supply teams in both the GT and TCE divisions will all required compounds throughout the weekend. So committed is Hankook Tires to the increasing development of both the Hankook 24H COTA USA and the 24H SERIES as a whole that a bespoke base of operations, manned by the company’s finest tyre specialists and engineers, will be erected in the paddock at the Circuit of the Americas throughout the 15-16-17 November weekend.

The centralised fuel station, and dedication to competitor safety
Alongside CREVENTIC’s commitment to close competition, safety remains one of the organising body’s biggest priorities. As well as the omnipresent eyes of race control and its experienced team therein, up to 100 volunteer marshals will be on duty during the 2019 Hankook 24H COTA USA.

Teams are also under no obligation to provide their own fuel rigs, with official event partner Gulf Racing Fuels providing and managing a centralized fuel station in the pitlane, as well as commemorative examples of their Superperformance GT40 decked in the company’s historic blue and orange livery. Commissioned to the highest possible safety standards and designed to keep racing fair across the board, the fuel station is a unique facet of the 24H SERIES we’re confident our American competitors will get a kick out of.
