Five Velocity Racing Development Drivers Set for Winter Competition Training
Team heads to South Florida next week
Continuing with their preparation for their national campaigns, Velocity Racing Development will enter four drivers at the upcoming YACademy Winter Series presented by Hankook next week. Taking place at the Palm Beach International Raceway and Homestead-Miami Speedway over the March 2nd to 5th dates, a fifth driver will make a guest appearance on the Thursday, March 5th event at the Homestead-Miami Speedway.

Heading south to take on the competition will be Formula 4 United States Championship Powered by Honda competitors and VRD rookie drivers Kyffin Simpson and Erik Evans as well as VRD Academy driver Nikita Johnson. Santiago Trisini will join the VRD trio but will only take part in test sessions and not compete in any official wheel-to-wheel competition.

"I am really pleased with how 2020 is shaping up," explained VRD's Dan Mitchell. "We have had a ton of interest in not only our F3 and F4 programs, but also our VRD Academy which we will have an additional announcement about early next week. Our drivers are putting in the work to be successful and as a team, we are really coming together."

"At YACademy, we are humbled by the support we have received this inaugural F4 Winter Series presented by Hankook," explained Series Promoter Gustavo Yacaman. "Having a team as VRD coming in full force is a strong statement. We are very excited to hit the track and put the new class of 2020 kids through their paces and hopefully the future Formula 4 U.S. champion will be a graduate of the YACademy winter Series by Hankook."

Mitchell continued, "The YACademy Winter Series is new, but I think will be very successful for years to come. Gustavo and his team are filling a void here on the East Coast, and we are proud to be one of his supporters."
