Three Top-Five Results for Bryson Morris in NOLA

March 13, 2023 With no testing in an open-wheel car of any kind during the offseason, Bryson Morris entered the first round of the FR Americas Championship Powered by Honda with lower-than-average expectations. Taking on the flat and fast NOLA Motorsports Park, Morris continually found pace throughout the weekend earning three top-five results in New Orleans and a solid start to his busy 2023 race season.

After a fifth-place effort in qualifying, Morris entered his first wheel-to-wheel race of the season with no off-season test program and just a few short sessions the day prior. Lining up on the inside of row three and ready to rocket his way to the first corner, Morris maintained his top-five starting spot early on as he kept pace with the cars in front of him. Pushing his Crosslink Kiwi Motorsports Ligier JSF3 to the limits, Morris fell back one position during the middle part of the race but worked his way back forward and ended his first open-wheel action of 2023 in the fifth position.

Looking to improve during race two on Sunday, Morris was back in the thick of things as he closed the gap with the leader. As a consistent winner in the F4 ranks in 2022, and entering the 2023 season with no testing, Morris improved throughout the weekend and race two was no different. With a P5 finish the day prior, Morris added a fourth-place result to his record sheets after race two.

“Of course, I want to win but I am happy that I am able to run where I am after no testing in an FR car in the offseason,” expressed Morris. “I will look for some more improvement in race three this afternoon and strive to be on the podium.”

Race three provided similar results for Morris. While not having the fastest car in the third and final race, Morris was able to run consistent race laps to hold his competitors at bay and cross the line in the fifth position.

Morris added, “I am lacking some seat time in these cars, and I look forward to the challenge that lies ahead. While we are slightly behind in the championship battle, it is only the first weekend, and we have plenty of time to earn race wins and claw our way back into the title chase.”
