Crosslink Kiwi Motorsport Sweeps the Action in FR Americas at NOLA

March 17, 2023 – It was the first round of the 2023 FR Americas Championship Powered by Honda this past weekend at NOLA Motorsports Park and Crosslink Kiwi Motorsport scored a trio of race wins. Bringing a massive team to New Orleans, the Texas-based program did not disappoint scoring multiple wins and podiums across both their F4 and FR programs.

While the results were good in F4 qualifying, they were great on the FR side of the program as Ryan Shehan scored the pole position in his FR Americas debut as Crosslink Kiwi Motorsport put four drivers in the top-five, and all six in the top-ten. Cooper Becklin slotted into the third position ahead of Callum Hedge, and Bryson Morris in fourth and fifth. Manuel Roza was eighth quick on the speed charts with Kevin Janzen in tenth.

FR Qualifying Results:
1st – Ryan Shehan
3rd – Cooper Becklin
4th – Callum Hedge
5th – Bryson Morris
8th – Manuel Roza
10th – Kevin Janzen

The first FR Americas race of 2023 brought more reason for Crosslink Kiwi Motorsport to celebrate as pole position winner Ryan Shehan led lights to flag to take his first win of 2023. A multi-time victor in F4 and a podium winner in New Zealand, Shehan dominated the first race to climb to the top step of the podium. Just like in F4, two Crosslink Kiwi drivers stood on the podium as Cooper Becklin kicked off his 2023 campaign with a P3 effort with Bryson Morris maintaining his starting spot to finish fifth. All six Crosslink Kiwi Motorsport drivers finished in the top-eight with New Zealand’s Callum Hedge crossing the line in sixth ahead of Manuel Roza and Kevin Janzen.

Crosslink Kiwi Motorsport swept the top-four positions in the second FR Americas race of the weekend and put five drivers in the top-six led by round one victor Ryan Shehan. Doubling up on wins and extending his point lead, Shehan beat teammate Cooper Becklin by 3.632 to the checkered flag despite only scoring the fourth-fastest lap of the race. Becklin finished second but his lap time earned the pole position for race three with Callum Hedge rounding out the Crosslink Kiwi 1 – 2 – 3. Bryson Morris scored his best FR Americas result as he steadily improved to the fourth position with Manuel Roza in sixth. Kevin Janzen put all six team drivers in the top-seven with a seventh-place result in a dominant performance by the team.

It was another win for Crosslink Kiwi Motorsport in the third and final FR race of the weekend as they once again put four drivers inside the top-five. Callum Hedge was able to pull out a victory over Ryan Shehan, who earned the first two race wins of the season, to take top honors and make it a team sweep for wins in FR. Shehan found his way to the third step of the podium and left NOLA as the point leader with Manuel Roza having his best result to date in fourth, narrowly missing the podium by .098 of a second. Bryson Morris crossed the line in fifth for three top-five results, while Kevin Janzen finished tenth. Unfortunately, Cooper Becklin retired three laps from the finish and ended his weekend with an 11th-place result.

The start of a busy season is now underway and Crosslink Kiwi Motorsport will enjoy a few weeks off before hitting the track for testing and the next F4 and FR race weekend May 18-21 at the famed Road America in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin.
