FR Americas and F4 U.S. Grads Spending the Month of May in Indianapolis
While the current stars of FR Americas, F4 U.S. and Ligier JFC are focused on Road America, alumni of the championships are focused on the month of May at the famed Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Six alums are attempting to make the starting grid for the 109th Running of the Indianapolis 500, while more-recent grads have already competed on the Indianapolis Grand Prix circuit earlier this month with groups like INDY NXT and USF Pro Championships. Just last week, Lochie Hughes, the 2022 F4 U.S. Champion, earned his first-career victory at IMS during his rookie season of INDY NXT. This weekend, Kyle Kirkwood (2017 F4 U.S. and 2018 FR Americas Champion) will join David Malukas (2020 FR Americas Vice Champion), Kyffin Simpson (2021 FR Americas Champion), Christian Rasmussen (2018 F4 U.S. Third-Place Champion), Jacob Abel (multi-year FR Americas & F4 U.S. driver) and Nolan Siegel (2020 F4 U.S. driver) in an attempt to qualify for the famed Indy 500.
FR Americas Championship
Fierce Battle Expected for the 2025 Championship
The battle is on for the 2025 title and the $100,000 cash prize that will be awarded to this year’s FR Americas champion. Three winners celebrated in Victory Lane during the season-opening round at NOLA, as Titus Sherlock (No. 31 Rayne Nutrition / Ronald McDonald House Charities / Crosslink Motorsports Ligier JS F3), Brady Golan (No. 80 Attire / Toney Driver Development Ligier JS F3) and Nicolas Ambiado (No. 55 Velox USA / Kiwi Motorsport Ligier JS F3) each claimed a victory. With a near-perfect weekend and three podium finishes, Ambiado currently leads the way, holding a 15-point advantage over second-place Golan. Bruno Ribeiro (No. 01 Alfa Cem / Kiwi Motorsport Ligier JS F3) finished the weekend with a pair of third-place results, ranking him third in the standings, while Sherlock and Jett Bowling (No. 22 Bullhorn / Kiwi Motorsport Ligier JS F3) round out the top five.

Sherlock Looks to Repeat 2024 Performance at Road America
When Titus Sherlock (No. 31 Rayne Nutrition / Ronald McDonald House Charities / Crosslink Motorsports Ligier JS F3) arrived at Road America last May, he had never stood atop the podium in FR Americas. However, by the end of the weekend, he was a two-time winner in the series and firmly in the championship hunt. Now, the 20-year-old Texan returns to America’s National Park of Speed with the hope of recapturing the same success and shaking up the championship standings.
Ambiado Searching for First Road America Win
Points leader Nicolas Ambiado (No. 55 Velox USA / Kiwi Motorsport Ligier JS F3) is on a hot streak, having secured one win and three podiums in as many races this year. With a career-best third-place finish at Road America recorded last season, the Chilean looks to improve his record at the 4.048-mile circuit this weekend as he searches for the top step of the podium.
F4 U.S. Alums Hoping for FR Americas Success
After tasting success at Road America in F4 U.S. competition last season, Nicolas Stati (No.15 Kiwi Motorsport Ligier JS F3), Daniel Quimby (No. 42 FCL Transport / Cruise America / Atlantic Racing Team Ligier JS F3) and Connor Roberts (No. 46 Apexspeed.com / Entropy Cellars / Atlantic Racing Team with Team Roberts Ligier JS F3) look to replicate that performance as they make their FR Americas debut at the iconic 4.048-mile circuit this weekend. In 2024, both Stati and Quimby claimed their first-career F4 U.S. victories, while Roberts scored his first podium. The trio used that momentum to fuel strong seasons, as all three entered the final round of the championship in title contention.
Milestone Just Around the Corner for Sterling
Life is full of possibilities for Athan Sterling (No. 2 JENSEN Ligier JS F3), as he continues to make strides both on and off the track. The 18 year old recently stepped up to FR Americas and marked the occasion with a career-best top-10 finish in the season opener at NOLA Motorsports Park. Now, he’s gearing up for another major milestone. On May 24, Sterling will don a cap and gown as he walks across the stage to graduate from Jackson High School in Massillon, Ohio.
Quimby, a Multi-Continent Contender
Daniel Quimby (No. 42 FCL Transport / Cruise America / Atlantic Racing Team Ligier JS F3) is racking up the air miles this season, splitting his time between North America, where he competes in FR Americas, and his native Australia, where he’s dominating the Porsche Michelin Sprint Cup. Leading the Class B standings, Quimby is undefeated in the series, with a perfect six-for-six record following rounds at Phillip Island and Sydney Motorsport Park.
Nicole Havrda Turns Attention to F1 ACADEMY
After cutting her teeth in FR Americas, Nicole Havrda will turn her full attention to F1 ACADEMY this season. With the prospect granting drivers only two seasons to contend for the championship, 19-year-old Havrda is determined to capitalize on every opportunity throughout the seven-round global competition. As one of just 17 full-time female drivers selected from around the world, Havrda represents American Express with Hitech TRG—the newest team on the F1 ACADEMY grid. Over the last two seasons, Havrda has utilized the PMH Powering Diversity Scholarship to record four podiums and seven top-five finishes.
F4 U.S. Championship
Consistency is Key in Championship Battle
With three of 18 races complete, one thing is already clear in the battle for the 2025 F4 U.S. Championship: consistency is key. The drivers are competing for more than just bragging rights, as the 2025 champion also wins a scholarship to advance to FR Americas next season. Alex Popow (No. 55 Dr. Michael Thompson MS DDS PPLS / MLT Motorsports Ligier JS F422) made an early statement with back-to-back wins in Races 2 and 3 at NOLA Motorsports Park, but it was Kekai Hauanio (No. 29 N-E-Where Transport / Crosslink Motorsports Ligier JS F422), who was the first to claim victory in F4 U.S. this season. Still searching for his first F4 U.S. win, Cooper Shipman (No. 14 Kiwi Motorsport Ligier JS F422) proved that he’s not one to be overlooked, as he recorded a trio of second-place finishes and ranks second in the standings, just 11 points behind Popow.

Toney Driver Development Expands to F4 U.S.
Toney Driver Development will make their F4 U.S. debut this weekend, as Luke Powers (No. 51 Corporate Commercial Group / Toney Driver Development Ligier JS F422) joins the grid at Road America. Based in Brownsburg, Ind., the team made its FR Americas debut last November at Circuit of The Americas and quickly proved to be a contender, recording a win and runner-up finish in just five-career races. With early success this season, the organization currently sits second in the FR Americas Team Championship standings, as they look to expand their footprint into F4 U.S. competition.
From Karts to Cars, Radford Scholarship Winner Graduates to F4 U.S.

The Fishers, Ind., native began karting in early 2020 and quickly made a name for himself—clinching his first club championship in his rookie season, and going on to earn his first national pole and win during his second year of karting. Nominated by New Castle Motorsports Park to the Radford Racing School F4 U.S. “Karts to Cars” Scholarship School, Powers completed the program in December 2023, logging his first laps in a single-seater racecar. Kekai Hauanio Turning Wrenches and Steering Wheels
Any time Kekai Hauanio (No. 29 N-E-Where Transport / Crosslink Motorsports Ligier JS F422) isn’t turning the steering wheel this season, you can find him turning wrenches. The 19 year old recently relocated from his native Tampa, Fla., to Carmel, Ind., where he’s working under accomplished INDYCAR veteran Jay Howard. Joining Jay Howard Driver Development, Hauanio is working with Jay’s son, Hudson Howard, as he progresses through his karting career and races Micro Swifts in national events across the country.
Ligier Junior Formula Championship
Irazú Out to Early Lead
The competition is tight this season in Ligier JFC, but a few favorites have already emerged from the season-opening weekend at NOLA Motorsports Park. With two victories in three races, rookie Gastón Irazú (No. 42 Elia Group / Baly / Canal 4 / Ancap / Champagne Racing Ligier JS F4) is out to an early lead in the championship point standings. However, Daniel Cará (No. 10 Tenuta Foppa & Ambrosi Wines / WorkHub / Cará Origin Motorsports Ligier JS F4) had the best weekend of his young career to ensure that he remains within striking distance of Irazú, trailing the Uruguayan by just 23 points. Berg Racing is emerging as a team to watch this season, with both Harbir Dass (No. 23 Northcoast Medical Group / Dubby Energy / Dass Psych LLC / Berg Racing Ligier JS F4) and Drew Szuch (No. 28 Berg Racing Ligier JS F4) consistently in the mix. With Szuch breaking through for his first-career Ligier JFC win, Berg Racing currently sits second in the Team Championship Point standings, just 10-points behind current frontrunner—Irazú’s team—Champagne Racing.

Completing in Round 1 of the Kyojo Cup at Fuji Speedway, May 10-11, Pinkowski and her KCMG Kids Com team brought home a 16th- and 17th-place result during a wet weekend at the Japanese circuit. She’ll return to Fuji Speedway for Round 2 of the championship, July 19-20.

After making his Ligier JFC debut at the 2024 season finale at Circuit of The Americas, Beckham Jacir (No. 7 STONICA / BELL / OMP / P1Doks / LC Racing Academy Ligier JS F4) returns this weekend to kick off his 2025 campaign at Road America with LC Racing Academy. After starting the year under the LC Racing Academy banner, the Canadian standout joined the Momentum Motorsports roster last month, where he will stay for the remainder of the season. A rising star with a strong karting background, Day has spent the last four years climbing through the karting ranks toward single-seater racecars. In 2024, he took a major step forward, traveling to France to train under F1 World Champion Jacques Villeneuve at the prestigious FEED Racing program. With a career-best finish of ninth at the NOLA season opener, Day looks to rack up more top 10s and valuable championship points during Round 2 at Road America.
Mokarem Maximizes on NOLA Weekend
Max Mokarem (No. 46 BFS / District Construction / Don’t Sleep Energy / Momentum Motorsports Ligier JS F4) joined Momentum Motorsports in the days leading up to the 2025 season opener at NOLA Motorsports Park. Despite the late join, it didn’t take long for the Lebanese driver to get up to speed. Showing steady improvement all weekend, Mokarem went from being not classified in Race 1, to finishing sixth in Race 2 and earning his first-career podium in Race 3. As the championship heads to Road America, Mokarem aims to carry that momentum forward and add more podiums to his resume.
Cará Making a Splash in Ligier JFC
Daniel Cará (No. 10 Tenuta Foppa & Ambrosi Wines / WorkHub / Cará Origin Motorsports Ligier JS F4) returns to Ligier JFC after taking last season off while finishing his degree at University of San Francisco. Now a college graduate with a degree in Business Management, Cará has his sights set on building Cará Origin Motorsports and eventually transitioning into the role of team owner.
