F4 U.S. and FR Americas Champion Kyle Kirkwood Re-Ups with Andretti Global

Kyle Kirkwood, one of the most celebrated alums in Formula Regional Americas Championship (FR Americas) and Formula 4 United States Championship (F4 U.S.) history, will continue his INDYCAR career with Andretti Global for the foreseeable future. Signing to a multiyear contract extension with the team, the five-time INDYCAR SERIES winner will continue to fight for race wins, podiums and the INDYCAR Championship while piloting the No. 27 Andretti Honda.
“These are very exciting times for myself, Andretti Global and TWG Motorsports,” Kirkwood said. “I’d first like to thank the entire team, and especially Dan Towriss and Jill Gregory, for putting their trust in me. We’ve had an amazing three years together, and our future together is very bright. We have proven to be true contenders, and most recently, championship contenders.
“Our trajectory has only been up, and I am confident that we will be fighting again for championships. Between the new shop, leadership, teammates and the many evolving factors within the organization, I believe this team is an absolute powerhouse, and we’re so excited for the journey ahead.”
An accomplished karter from Jupiter, Fla., Kirkwood started his single-seater racing career in 2016 with F4 U.S., placing third in the standings as a rookie. Returning to the championship the next year, Kirkwood dominated, standing on the podium 15 times and winning nine of the 20 races that season. Winning both the championship and a scholarship to compete in the inaugural season of FR Americas, Kirkwood stepped up to the championship then-known as F3 Americas in 2018. With a near-perfect season, he won 15 of the 17 races to take the inaugural title.
That same season, Kirkwood also participated in USF2000 Championship, where he won 12 of 14 races to win their championship. From there, he went on to win nine races and claim the title in Indy Pro 2000 in 2019—officially earning four championships in just three years.
Kirkwood signed with Andretti Autosport to compete in the 2020 INDY NXT Championship, but when the season was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, he had to wait another year to make a run at the title. With 10 race wins and 14 podiums, Kirkwood took the 2021 INDY NXT title, and set himself up to join AJ Foyt Racing for the 2022 INDYCAR season.
With a best finish of 10th during his rookie season, Kirkwood returned to Andretti Global for his 2023 campaign, and has remained with the championship-winning organization ever since. Over the last three seasons with Andretti, the 27 year old has delivered five wins, three pole awards, six podiums and has led more than 300 laps. With 2025 as his breakout season, Kirkwood recorded a career-best three wins and finished a career-high fourth in the point standings.
