CHARLOTTE, N.C. (May 24, 2026) – With the green flag for the 110th Running of the Indianapolis 500 just hours away, we’ve compiled a guide to help you choose who to cheer for during The Greatest Spectacle in Racing. 

Six alums of the Racing America Formula Ladder will take the start in today’s 500-mile event at the famed Brickyard, including past champions and race winners from Formula Regional Americas Championship (FR Americas) and Formula 4 United States Championship (F4 U.S.). Here’s who they are: 

David Malukas – Starting 3rd
Driving the No. 12 Chevrolet for Team Penske, David Malukas will compete in his fourth Indianapolis 500 today. The 2020 FR Americas Vice Champion, Malukas earned two wins and 15 podiums in the championship before climbing to INDY NXT. From there, he made his INDYCAR debut in 2022, and has since driven for the likes of Dale Coyne Racing with HMD, Meyer Shank Racing and A.J. Foyt Racing, before landing an opportunity with Team Penske for the 2026 season. Finishing second, the Lithuanian-American recorded a career-best Indianapolis 500 finish last season. After finishing second at the IMS Road Course earlier this month, Malukas is looking to breakthrough with a win today.  

Kyffin Simpson – Starting 7th
Driving the No. 8 for Chip Ganassi Racing, Kyffin Simpson will race in his third Indy 500 today. Starting from a career-high seventh place for 500 miles at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, the Cayman Island native also looks to improve on a career-best finish of 21st later today. After nine years of karting across the United States and Caribbean, Simpson started his open-wheel career with a partial season in F4 U.S. Championship back in 2020. In 2021, he moved up to FR Americas where he won the Driver Championship with seven wins and 13 podiums across 18 rounds. Catching the attention of Chip Ganassi, Simpson was signed as a Ganassi development driver in 2022. From there, he notched class wins in the 2022 Petit Le Mans, 2023 12 Hours of Sebring, and was the 2023 LMP2 Champion in the European Le Mans Series all while competing in INDY NXT, and made his INDYCAR debut in 2024. 

Christian Rasmussen – Starting 15th
Driving the No. 21 for Ed Carpenter Racing, Christian Rasmussen will make his third start in the Greatest Spectacle in Racing. Last year’s INDYCAR winner at The Milwaukee Mile, Rasmussen will start a career-best 15th in today’s race, and hopes to improve on last year’s sixth-place result in the 500-mile event. After starting his motorsport career in his native Denmark, Rasmussen turned his focus to racing in the United States as he began his ascent toward INDYCAR. His climb started in F4 U.S. in 2018, where he finished the season as the Third-Place Driver Champion with five wins and eight podiums. 

Nolan Siegel – Starting 20th
Driving the No. 6 for Arrow McLaren, Nolan Siegel will compete in his third Indianapolis 500 in 2026. Last year, Siegel started 24th and finished 13th at the Brickyard, and he looks to improve on both metrics while rolling off 20th later today. When making his transition from karts to cars, Siegel looked to F4 U.S. to begin his development. Competing in partial seasons in both 2019 and 2020, Siegel’s best F4 U.S. finish (sixth) came in his final start.

Kyle Kirkwood – Starting 25th 
Driving the No. 27 for Andretti Global, Kyle Kirkwood will make his fifth appearance in the Indy 500. A six-time INDYCAR winner, Kirkwood had a career-best Indianapolis 500 run in 2024, starting 11th and finishing seventh. The Floridian will roll off 25th today. Kirkwood climbed through series on Racing America’s Formula Ladder on his way to INDYCAR. Spending two seasons in F4 U.S., he earned 10 wins and the 2017 F4 U.S. Championship title. With 15 victories in 18 starts the following season, Kirkwood won the inaugural FR Americas Championship title.

Jacob Abel – Starting 30th
Driving the No. 51 for Abel Motorsports, Jacob Abel will compete as a rookie in the 2026 Indianapolis 500. Abel’s climb up the motorsports ladder included both F4 U.S. and FR Americas, where he spent a total of five seasons competing in the two championships. A three-time winner in FR Americas, Abel went on to tally three wins in INDY NXT before making his ascent to INDYCAR. Turning his focus primarily to sportscar racing this season, Abel will make his first start in the Greatest Spectacle in Racing this afternoon.
