September 9, 2026 – Evagoras Papasavvas battled through one of the most challenging weekends of his 2026 Formula Regional Americas Championship (FR Americas) campaign at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park (CTMP), overcoming mechanical issues, contact, and a difficult setup to close the weekend with a hard-fought victory in Race 3.

Papasavvas, the championship point leader entering the weekend, secured the pole position in qualifying and put himself at the front of the field for the opening race. However, trouble struck immediately after the start when steering wheel issues plagued the Crosslink Motorsports driver. A restart of the car ultimately resolved the problem, but Papasavvas was forced to fight his way forward from the back of the field.

Despite the setback, Papasavvas charged through the field and was battling for fifth when an on-track incident nearly ended his weekend entirely. The contact left Papasavvas upside down on the track, causing significant damage and leaving the Crosslink Motorsports crew with an enormous repair effort ahead of Race 2.

Working through the night, the Crosslink team was able to repair the car in time for Papasavvas to start Race 2 from pole. With no opportunity to properly test the repaired car and develop the ideal setup, Papasavvas and the team were forced to go directly into the race with a car that was difficult to handle. A spin ultimately brought another frustrating end to the race, costing Papasavvas valuable championship points and leaving the team with one final opportunity to salvage the weekend.

That opportunity came in Race 3 with Evagoras starting fourth. He immediately went to work, fighting his way forward through the field. The championship contender delivered a determined drive to take the victory, closing the CTMP weekend on the top step of the podium and demonstrating the pace and resilience that have kept him in the championship fight.

“It was definitely a weekend of highs and lows,” explained Papasavvas. “We had the speed from the beginning with pole in qualifying, but the steering wheel issue in Race 1 put us in a difficult position, and then the incident while I was fighting for fifth caused a lot of damage. The Crosslink guys worked incredibly hard overnight to get the car back together for Race 2, and unfortunately, we did not have any time to get the setup right before going straight into the race. The spin cost us even more points, so winning Race 3 was really important. I am proud of the entire team for never giving up this weekend. We know we lost points that we should have had, but we will take the win and come back even stronger at VIR.”

With the CTMP weekend behind him, Papasavvas will now turn his attention to the penultimate event of the 2026 FR Americas season at VIRginia International Raceway (VIR) next weekend. With the championship fight entering its final stages, Papasavvas will look to recover the points lost in Canada and continue his push toward the FR Americas Championship title.
