Evagoras Papasavvas Secures FR Americas Vice-Championship at Barber Motorsports Park

October 19, 2026 – Evagoras Papasavvas closed out the 2026 Formula Regional Americas Championship (FR Americas) season at Barber Motorsports Park, battling through a challenging doubleheader weekend to earn enough points to secure Vice Champion honors.

The weekend got off to a difficult start when a mechanical issue at the beginning of qualifying forced an early retirement from the session, leaving Papasavvas without a time and relegating him to the back of the grid for the opening race.

Undeterred, Papasavvas went to work in Race 1, charging through the field to finish seventh and bring home a solid top-10 result. Along the way, he posted the second-fastest lap, earning a front-row start for Race 2.

Starting second in the season finale, Papasavvas was caught up in contact at Turn 1 on the opening lap that sent him off track and dropped him from second to ninth in the running order. He responded with a remarkable drive, setting the fastest lap of the race as he worked his way back through the field to cross the finish line in the second position. However, following a protest from a competitor over contact during a pass, officials assessed Papasavvas a 10-second time penalty, dropping him to fifth in the final results.

Despite the setbacks, Papasavvas’ consistency and speed throughout the season were enough to secure the FR Americas Vice Championship, capping a 2026 campaign in which the Crosslink Motorsports driver regularly fought at the front of the field.

“This weekend tested us from start to finish,” explained Papasavvas. “The car died at the start of qualifying, so we started Race 1 from the back, but we climbed up to seventh and set the second-fastest lap to put ourselves on the front row for Race 2. Then we got hit in Turn 1 at the start of Race 2, which sent us off track and almost into the wall, and we fell from second to ninth. I gave everything I had to fight back to second, so it was very disappointing to receive a 10-second penalty for contact that caused no damage and didn't take any driver out of contention for a win or podium. Even so, I am proud of how we fought all weekend and all season. Finishing as Vice Champion is something the entire Crosslink Motorsports team should be proud of, and I want to thank everyone who supported us this year.”

With the 2026 season complete, Papasavvas will now turn his attention to plans for 2027 as he looks to build on his Vice Championship campaign and take the next step in his racing career.
